The GDPR and you

On the 25t of May 2018 the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) replaces the current Data Protection Act of 1995 Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC).

The GDPR was proposed by the European Commission and is designed to strengthen data protection for people in the European Union (EU). It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.

The new regulations give individuals greater rights over information that is collected about them. If you are interested in knowing more about your rights under the GDPR then the Information Comissionors Office (ICO) website explains all about the GDPR.

In a nutshell the GDPR gives you new and enhanced rights over your personal data. Some of the rights highlighted in the regulation are:

Explicit consent: Data subjects (you) must be informed about how their personal data will be processed. Organizations must make it as easy for data subjects to withdraw their consent as it is to grant it. You may withdraw your consent from us at any time by emailing [email protected]

Right to access: At any point in time, the data subject (you) can ask Wide-Eyed Designwhat personal data is being stored or retained about him/her. I give details on how you can contact me to request information about how you can request access to any data we may hold about you by emailing [email protected].

Right to be forgotten: The data subject (you) can request Wide-Eyed Design to remove their personal information from our systems. You can do this by contacting Wide-Eyed Design at [email protected]
