Based in Consett Mini Mixers creates truly amazing, show-stopping cakes for all occasions across County Durham and the North East of England.

The Brief

We designed and built the original Mini Mixers website back in 2014 so we were delighted when, in 2018, the owner of the business asked us to design and build a new responsive website which focused on their truly spectacular bespoke cakes and biscuits.

Our Solution: Responsive Website Design

Using the WordPress content management system and a modular page builder, we created a bespoke layout design which was influenced by the handwritten style of the logo. The logo design also formed the basis of the colour palette of soft almond greens and sugar pinks used across the website.

Given the showstopping quality of the products Mini Mixers create, it made sense to design a website which included as many photographs of the products as possible. With a nod to the theme of cakes, the photos were presented in circles framed with a pink border. A gallery page showcases the wide variety of products Mini Mixers creates and a blog/news page was also created so that Mini Mixers can update their customers on cake trends, special offers and recipes.

A key element of the rebrand was to ensure that the new website ranked highly for organic searches.  This was achieved by ensuring that every page in the website was optimised for a different key search term and that every image used on the website was optimised for the web and saved using a keyword or search term before it was uploaded. Correct use of “alt” and title tags was also adhered to as part of the build.  To help with search engine optimisation and page load speed, each picture was correctly sized and optimised for the web before being added to the website.

As Mini Mixers have a vibrant following on social media, links were added in prominent areas of the website and as a final touch the footer of the website contains an automated newsletter sign-up form.

The Result

A beautiful, responsive (mobile friendly) fast-loading website with a bespoke layout design, blog page and plenty of product images. From the start the website scored highly in organic searches.  The website has been optimised for Search engines and Google Analytics and scores highly for accessibility.

UPDATE JANUARY 2023 – The website continues to do well in Search Engines and we continue to work with Mini Mixers to provide website maintenance and changes to the website content when required.
