The Client

Red Kite Caravan Holidays are a bijou caravan lettings company sited within the beautiful Springhouse Country Park in Northumberland. As a start-up company with limited time to spend on administration, the owners of Red Kite Caravan Holidays needed a responsive website with an easy-to-use automated online booking system.

The Design Brief

In addition to the responsive website with online booking and integrated payment options, a complete Brand Identity was also required.  A bespoke logo design, business cards, advertising flyers and business stationery also formed part of the design brief.

Our Solution: Logo Design

The company name references the Red Kite, a native bird of prey. Extinct within the British Isles for over 100 years, its reintroduction to the northeast of England and in particular the Derwent Valley, is one of the great rewilding success stories of the last 30 years and is now an enduring symbol of the area. Our bespoke logo design is a stylised representation of this iconic bird soaring within a symbolic landscape of blue and green.

Responsive Web Design

The responsive website was built using the WordPress CMS with a bespoke designed layout which showcases the high quality of the caravans rented by Red Kite Caravan Holidays.  A clear uncluttered navigation menu enables site visitors to quickly find the information they need.

The addition of a modular drag-and-drop page builder means that changes to the website such as adding new photographs or altering prices can be easily managed in-house.  Template pages and a series of bespoke “How To’ documentation were also provided to allow the Red Kite team to manage the website on a day-to-day basis.

Online Booking System

A robust and comprehensive online booking system which includes e-commerce integration enables customers to book and pay for their stay online. The system is configured so that automatic payment reminders and receipts are sent to the customers by email once a booking has been made,  a process which requires little administrative input from the Red Kite team.

An encrypted online payment system and SSL certification across the website keeps customer details safe and secure. The online booking solution selected also enables Red Kite Caravan Holidays to link their online system to external calendars, monitor payment progress and set prices and special offers for specified dates from within the admin area of their website.

Finally, the website was optimised for Search Engines,  all images used across the site were formatted for the web, a cookie consent bar linked to an up-to-date GDPR policy was added across the site and Google maps link was embedded into the footer of the site so that prospective holidaymakers could find the location without needing to leave the website.

Business Card Design

Unlike traditional business cards which usually display an individuals contact details, the business cards designed for Red Kite Caravan Holidays act as mini-flyers, the front of the card showing the company logo and website address while the reverse of the card displays details about the caravans.

Flyer Design

The  A5 advertising flyer was created using picutres of the caravans and full details of the holiday options available alongside clear contact details. The flyers were printed on a good quality high-gloss cardstock using our print management service.

The Result

The first booking was made within a couple of days of the website going live and the website quickly gained traction in the Search Engine Rankings where it consistently ranks highly.   While holiday lets are a highly competitive business,  Red Kite Caravan Holidays have reported a steady increase in bookings and a high rate of repeat bookings.

The creation of branded stationery, advertising flyers and business cards allows Red Kite Caravan Holidays to present a cohesive brand identity across every aspect of their business while our print management service ensured that printing costs are kept to a minimum without impacting the quality of the finished items.

UPDATE Nov 2022 – We continue to provide website support and changes where required, including the provision of in-house workshops and training.

UPDATE MAY 2023 – Installation and configuration of an EPOS system on the website. This is linked to the websites online booking system and enables card payments to be taken directly on the site without the need for a third party payment provider.
